چکیده
There is a continuous attempt at seeking different, economical and environmental-friendly means of improving the strength soils. This work therefore studied effects shredded plastic waste (SPW) on selected To achieve aim study, lateritic soil samples were collected from two identified active borrow pits in Ile-Ife. Following standard procedures, following tests conducted soils their natural state: moisture content, grain size analysis, specific gravity, Atterberg limits, compaction, California bearing ratio (CBR). Subsequently, treated with SPW 4 %, 8 % 12 proportion by weight respectively. They then subjected to compaction CBR tests. The found have characteristics for sample A B respectively: gravity (2.70 2.51); liquid limit (40.40 61.00 %); (23.11 36.67 plasticity index (17.29 24.33 American Association State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) classification (A-3 A-2-7); maximum dry density (MDD) (1430 kg/m3 1510kg/m3); optimum content (OMC) (21.13 48.0 %). Results further showed that addition led slight improvement tested study concluded could be used improve

Elasto-plastic analysis of reinforced soils using mesh-free method
In this paper the application of the mesh-free method (MFM) for the elasto-plastic analysis of reinforced soils is studied for the first time. The applied mesh-free method is called the radial point interpolation method (RPIM). In MFM, unlike the finite element method (FEM), there is no need of mesh in the traditional sense, and the shape functions are based on nodes. In the present study the r...

Plastic (Polyethylene Terephthalate, PET) is now used as packaging material for a whole range of consumer products in addition to carbonated beverages. Although plastics are very useful product, but the disposal of these wastes has become a problem and is of great concern, particularly in our country. One of the solutions to the disposal of plastic wastes is recycling it...
متن کاملEffects of Glass-Fiber Reinforced Polymer and Waste Polypropylene Plastic Particles on Geotechnical Properties of Clayey Soils for Using Subgrade in the Pavement
The fine-grained soil including the problematic ones can cause many difficulties in project accomplishment. Settlement and swelling are among the problems of the fine-grained soils. The present study compared the effects of the polypropylene waste plastic (PWP) and glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) on geotechnical properties of the clayey soils for the subgrade design. To this end, the PWP ...

متن کاملDynamic Characteristics of Joined Steel and Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Tubes: Experimental and Numerical Investigation
The fundamental frequencies and mode shapes of steel and carbon fiber–reinforced plastic (CFRP) cylindrical shells with steel inserts were investigated using finite element analysis and modal testing. The free-free boundary condition was tested with modal testing using the roving hammer method and verified by finite element analysis using ABAQUS. The results show good agreement between the test...
